Deleting Username and Password in Windows XP

Before proceeding, please keep in mind that it is not necessary to completely uninstall Anonymizer® programs in order to delete usernames and passwords. Simply follow the steps below.

Begin by opening your Anonymizer Software and checking the programs that are listed on the left hand side of the screen. The first entry will read HOME, followed by Anonymous Surfing™ and Nyms™. NOTE: If there are entries listed that you do NOT have ACTIVE subscriptions for, please begin with STEP 1 below. If there are only programs listed that you currently have ACTIVE subscriptions to, then you can immediately proceed to STEP 2.

STEP 1- Modifying the Anonymizer Software to Show Your Active Subscriptions

  1. Locate the Anonymizer icon at the bottom right side of your computer screen. Right click on the icon and choose “Exit” when the menu appears.
  2. Next, click on the Windows icon on the lower left side of your computer screen and choose “Control Panel.”
  3. Click on “Add/Remove Programs.”
  4. Choose the Anonymizer program from the list and select “Change.”
  5. Once the Installation Wizard launches, ensure “Modify” is selected and click “Next.”
  6. Choose the boxes next to EACH Anonymizer product you do NOT have an ACTIVE Subscription for and select the red X. From that point forward, the entire feature will be unavailable.
  7. To complete the process, Click “Next”, then “Next” again and finally, “Finish.”

Once you have verified your ACTIVE subscriptions and completed STEP 1 (only necessary for those who had programs listed that they do NOT have ACTIVE subscriptions for), please proceed to STEP 2 below.

STEP 2- Removing your old Anonymizer user information, including username and password

  1. Locate the Anonymizer icon at the bottom right side of your computer screen and right click on it. Choose “Exit” from the menu that appears
    • NOTE: The Program must be exited completely in order to change your username.
  2. Next, click on “Start” on the lower left hand side of your computer screen.
  3. And then, “My Computer.”
  4. Select “Local Disk (C:)” and open the “Documents and Settings” folder.
  5. Choose “Tools” from the top of the window that appears. When there, do the following:
    • Select “Folder Options.”
    • Click on the “View” tab.
    • Under “Hidden Files and Folders”, select “Show” hidden files and folders and then “OK.”
  6. Click on “All Users” and then “Application Data.”
  7. Find the Anonymizer Software folder and click on it.
  8. In the next screen, find the “search” box and type in .data
  9. In the screen that follows, under “More Advanced Options”, check the box “Search Subfolders.”
  10. Click on “Search”.
  11. You will see a series of folders (Ex. AnonUser.data, AnonNyms.data and AnonSurf.data).

    NOTE: If you receive a message that says “This folder is not indexed”, please use the “Search Companion.”

  12. Right click on each Anonymizer file whose file name ends in .data and choose “delete” from the menu that appears.
  13. Restart your computer.
  14. Once your have completed the necessary steps, restart Anonymizer and enter your activation keys using your current username and password.

Deleting Username and Password in Windows Vista

  1. Locate the Anonymizer icon at the bottom right side of your computer screen. Right click on the icon and choose “Exit” when the menu appears.
  2. Next, click on the Windows icon on the lower left side of your computer screen and choose “Control Panel.”
  3. Under the Programs section on the page that appears, click “Uninstall a program.”
  4. Choose the Anonymizer program from the list and select “Change.”
  5. Once the Installation Wizard launches, ensure “Modify” is selected and click “Next.”
  6. Choose the boxes next to EACH Anonymizer product you do NOT have an ACTIVE Subscription for and select the red X. From that point forward, the entire feature will be unavailable.
  7. To complete the process, Click “Next”, then “Next” again and finally, “Finish.”

Once you have verified your ACTIVE subscriptions and completed STEP 1 (only necessary for those who had programs listed that they do NOT have ACTIVE subscriptions for), please proceed to STEP 2 below.

STEP 2- Removing your old Anonymizer user information, including username and password

  1. Locate the Anonymizer icon at the bottom right side of your computer screen and right click on it. Choose “Exit” from the menu that appears.
  2. Next, click on the Windows icon on the lower left side of your computer screen.
  3. In the “Start Search” section located directly under the “All Programs” area enter the following,
    %ProgramData% and press “Enter.”
  4. Find the Anonymizer folder in the list that appears and click on it.
  5. Click on the Anonymizer Software folder.
  6. In the next screen, find the “search” box in the upper right hand corner and type in .data
  7. You will see a series of folders (Ex. AnonUser.data, AnonNyms.data and AnonSurf.data).
  8. Right click on each file whose file name ends in .data and choose “delete” from the menu that appears.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Once your have completed the necessary steps, restart Anonymizer and enter your activation keys using your current username and password.
