If you have McAfee Security software and are experiencing trouble connecting with Anonymizer Universal, please follow these steps. Posted: July 10th, 2012 12:00pm Open the McAfee Control Panel and select “Firewall” then “Settings”. Scroll down to “My Network Connections” and expand by clicking the down arrow. Select “Add” then, selecting the “Range” option, enter “147.203.108.0” to “147.203.108.255”. Select the Connection Protection type “Home” and enter the description “Anonymizer Universal 1” and click “Save”. Click “Add” once more, repeating the steps above to enter the range “168.143.113.0” to “168.143.113.255”. Make the Connection Protection Type “Home” and add the description “Anonymizer Universal 2” and click “save”. Close McAfee and launch Anonymizer Universal.

If you are experiencing difficulty connecting with Anonymizer Universal, the issue can often be resolved by changing the connection mode to “TCP” or “L2TP/IPSec.” Posted: May 25, 2012 9:00am To switch to “TCP”, access the “Advanced Connections” menu on the Anonymizer Universal interface by selecting the (i) on the bottom right-hand side of the launch screen. On the “Advanced Connections” menu, slide the OpenVPN slider bar to the left, select ‘Done’, and then ‘Connect‘. To switch to “L2TP/IPSec” select the radio button in the “Advanced Connections” menu.

Anonymizer Universal Conflict Resolved with Windows XP users of Norton Internet Security 2012 or Norton 360 6.0 Posted: May 11, 2012 Anonymizer released an update which resolves an incompatibility issue with Norton 360 6.0 and Norton Internet Security 2012 that prevented Anonymizer Universal from launching in Windows XP.

Fix Released for Mac Users Experiencing “Error Connecting OpenVPN TCP”Updated: Apr 4, 2012 Posted: Mar 19, 2012 An automatic update to the Anonymizer Universal Mac client was released April 4th, which resolves the “Error Connecting OpenVPN TCP” issue. We encourage all Mac users to update to version 1.2.1.

Anonymizer Universal Version 1.2.1 for Windows Released Today Posted: May 11, 2012 Anonymizer released an automatic update for the Anonymizer Universal Windows client. This fixes an incompatibility issue with Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security 2012 that prevented Anonymizer Universal from launching in Windows XP. It also improves Anonymizer Universal startup time and optimizes the connection process. To install the update please click on the “i” in the lower right-hand corner of the client and go to “Updates” and click “Check Now”.

Anonymizer Universal Version 1.2.1 for Mac Released Today Posted: Apr 4, 2012 Anonymizer has released an automatic update today for the Anonymizer Universal Mac client. This update fixes an issue that caused the OpenVPN connection process to time out prematurely, preventing users on slower Internet connections from connecting successfully in OpenVPN mode. It also includes enhanced detection of routing issues in the L2TP/IPSec mode. To install the update please click on the i in the lower right-hand corner of the client and go to “Updates” and click “Check”.

Introducing OpenVPN for Anonymizer Universal! Version 1.2 Released March 14, 2012 Posted: Mar 14, 2012 10:20am PST Anonymizer released an automatic update for Windows and Mac users today. To update to Anonymizer Universal 1.2 – now enhanced with OpenVPN technology – simply go to “Updates” within the Anonymizer Universal Client and click “Check” from the Mac client, or click “Check Now” from the Windows client. You may also access the updated version by logging into your account on the Anonymizer website and clicking on “My Downloads”. The new version of Anonymizer Universal features OpenVPN technology, Wi-Fi Hotspot detection.
* Important Note for Windows XP Users: The updated version of Anonymizer Universal uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. If this is not already installed on your computer, it will be automatically installed with the update.
