Troubleshooting: Cannot Authenticate
Common Issues: | My browser tells me I “cannot authenticate.” |
Error Messages: | Anonymizer was unable to authenticate you with our Privacy Network. |
Resolution: | Exit Browser and Anonymizer Software, reopen Anonymizer Software and browser |
If you are experiencing the “cannot authenticate” error message, you should first try restarting your Anonymizer Software. This message can indicate that your Internet connection timed out at some point. To Exit the Anonymizer Software, “right” click on the Anonymizer icon in your system tray at the bottom right side of your computer screen. Choose “Exit” from the menu that appears. When the software has completely exited, click on the Anonymizer icon to reopen the Software. If the problem persists, it means that your system is unable to connect to Anonymizer’s Servers. To solve the problem, follow the steps below.
Step 1
Exit all programs connected to the Internet
- Completely “Close” all browsers and then,
- Completely “Exit” your Anonymizer Software
- Right click on the Anonymizer icon in your system tray at the bottom right side of your computer screen.
- Choose “Exit” from the menu that appears.
- Click “OK” if prompted.
Once you have verified your ACTIVE subscriptions and completed STEP 1 (only necessary for those who had programs listed that they do NOT have ACTIVE subscriptions for), please proceed to STEP 2 below.
Step 2
Restart the Anonymizer Software
- Double click on the “Anonymizer” Shortcut on your Desktop
- Turn Anonymous Surfing “On”
- Ensure the “Real IP address” and the “Everyone Else Sees IP address” are different.
If they match or you receive an error message, please click here to troubleshoot additional settings - “Reopen” the browser
