Installation
To install Anonymizer Total Net Shield, please go to www.anonymizer.com and click on “My Account Login” at the top right. Enter your username and password, and then click “Login.”
Once in My Account Home, click “My Downloads” on the left.
Once in “My Downloads,” click on “Download Now.”
An installation Window pop up will ask you to “Open” and “Save.” Choose to save the file to your Desktop so you can locate it later.
Once saved, click on the Total Net Shield, “ChannelerInst.exe” application and begin installation.
A window for the Anonymizer Total Net Shield Installer will appear; click “Install” to continue.
Once the installation is complete, you will get a message stating the Anonymizer Total Net Shield installation has been completed. Click “OK” to continue to the Configuration Wizard.
Configuration Wizard
A window will appear for the Application Configuration Wizard. Click “Next” to continue.
The next window will allow you to configure your Internet browser. Simply click on “Make Secure” for the Browsers you currently use. If you do not see the browser you use in this list, please contact Technical Support for further assistance. Click “Finish” to complete the configuration.
Once the configurations are complete, you will receive a message regarding a Host Identification Key. Please ensure that it states you are connecting to cyberpass.net, port 22, and then select “Accept and Save.” If it does not say cyberpass.net, port 22, please contact Technical Support before proceeding.
You will then get a small window requesting your Anonymizer username and password. Please enter this information and click “OK” to continue.
Once this is done, you will see the Anonymizer Total Net Shield icon in your system tray, which is located in the lower right hand corner down by your clock. The icon looks like a cloud with a green tube going through it. The main Total Net Shield window will appear. As long as the last message in the Log at the bottom says SSH Session: Authentication Complete, you are now ready to surf the Internet securely.
You are now set up to browse the Internet anonymously, and can check your configuration settings at any Web site that can trace your IP address. Please access Web sites such as IP Chicken for verification. If you are being secured by Anonymizer, you will either see the IP address the same as the Name Address or the Name address will contain a different Internet Service Provider than your current Internet Service Provider. This IP address will change every 24 hours.
If you are not being secured, you will see your ISP information in the “Name Address” field.
Uninstalling
To uninstall the Total Net Shield software, please make sure you “Exit” out of the program so it is NOT running. Simply right click on the icon near your clock and click “Exit.”
In “Control Panel”, locate the “Programs” section. Click “Uninstall a program.”
Select “Anonymizer Total Net Shield” and choose “Uninstall/Change.”
Choose “Next” on the Settings Restoration Wizard. It will help to ensure the program is completely unconfigured.
You will then see the settings for your browsers. Click “Restore All Settings” to unconfigure your browsers. If you do not have this option, simply click “Finish” to complete the uninstall.
When the Uninstaller window appears, click “Remove” to continue.
If completed successfully, the last message in the window will report Uninstall Complete.
